Home Improvement Process

Getting Started

  1. Gather a scrapbook of notes, photos, and articles that you have collected.
  2. Get together with your family and ask them for their input and wish lists.
  3. Come up with a budget you can live with.
  4. Draw a rough sketch of your floor plan and take measurements (or, if building, get floor plan from architect or builder).
  5. Call us to make an appointment, or stop into our showroom.

Visiting Our Showroom

The first time you stop into our showroom we will...

  1. Answer any questions you may have.
  2. Review and/or assist you in establishing a budget.
  3. Discuss your scrapbook of ideas (if you have one).
  4. Discuss your floor plan (if you have one) and go over some design ideas.
  5. Discuss your plans for utilizing the room you will be remodeling.

If You Like What You See

  1. We will come to your home and take measurements.
  2. We will create a design and draft a scaled, architectural quality floor plan.
  3. We will provide you with a price.
  4. We will set up a meeting for you to discuss the design and pricing and discuss any potential modifications you would like to make.

The Installation Process

  1. Our in-house installers will execute your project from start to finish.
  2. To ensure a quality installation, at the beginning of your project, one of our designers will meet with you and our installer at your home to discuss the details of your plan and installation. Our designer will be with you throughout the entire project.
  3. During the renovation process, your property will be treated with respect and the work area will be broom-swept at the end of each day.

Remodeling Hints

  1. Pack everything that won't be needed into boxes. This will keep things dust-free.
  2. Keep essential items handy: basic food that can be microwaved, condiments, cereal, microwave-safe dishes and utensils, dishcloths, dishwasher soap, paper plates and cups, coffee, coffee pot and sugar/creamer, paper towels, napkins, and garbage bags.
  3. You will be without water in your kitchen for a period of time in direct relation to the extent of work being done.
  4. Set up the microwave and refrigerator in another area, along with a table for preparation.
  5. Relax and rely on your kitchen designer. There will be a beautiful kitchen when all the dust is gone!

Communication and building a rapport with our clients is important to the success of a project. We here at The Cleveland Tile & Cabinet Co. pride ourselves in listening to our client's wants and needs and then developing them into a plan that is not only functional but also esthetically pleasing to the client's personal taste. Our philosophy is not to sell, but to guide you through the entire process. The result of this process is a creation of a new living space that expresses your lifestyle.

Build an Idea File. Begin by gathering information and pictures about the styles and products you like. Use kitchen/bath, decorating, or remodeling magazines to find pictures of what you like (as well as what you don't like). These pictures can help you and your designer in creating the project you envision. You'll want to begin the selection process three to six months before you are ready to start the installation of your project. It is also important to establish a budget early on so that your designer can help guide you towards products that will allow you to stay within it. Just like houses, custom cabinetry projects come in all shapes, sizes and prices, so it's important to know approximately how much you want to invest before you start.
